Recorded and Mixed August 2020 by Cody James.
Mastered by Tom Washatka.

"For What It's Worth" is a classic American Protest song by the band Buffalo Springfield. Originally released in 1966, Cody James offers a brand new rendition.

"I thought it was important to use my platform to do something. To stand for those in the face of disparity." James said, when asked on why he chose to record this cover song.

"For What It's Worth" appears on a larger work, the compilation album titled "Parallel Universe" which features 10 Wisconsin-based musical and visual artists. Each artist is offering an interpretation of a classic American Protest song in an effort to show solidarity with current civil rights movements.

Lyrics

There's something happening here
But what it is, is pretty clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling my brothers they've got to beware

I think it's time we stop
Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down

Battle are lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Taking so much resistance from behind

It's time we stop
Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down

What a field day for the heat (Ooo-ooo-ooo)
A thousand people in the street (Ooo-ooo-ooo)
Singing songs and carrying signs (Ooo-ooo-ooo)
Mostly say, "Hooray for our side" (Ooo-ooo-ooo)

I think it's time we stop
Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
Step out of line, the man come and take you away

We better stop
Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down
